Hazard
An electronic component inside the plug can overheat, presenting a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
Remedy
Stop using the recalled floor lamps immediately, unplug them and contact Environmental Lighting Concepts for free replacements.
Reported Injuries
Environmental Lighting Concepts has received three reports of the plugs overheating, including one plug that produced smoke. No injuries or property damage has been reported.

Craft, hobby and fabric stores, including Hancock Fabrics, sold the lamps nationwide, from November 2000 through December, 2000 for about $170.
Full Recall Description
The floor lamps are sand colored, stand about 4 feet tall and have flexible gooseneck arms to adjust the position of the fluorescent lights. They are used for reading or by crafters for sewing or needlework. Labels indicating "OTT-LITE TRUECOLOR FLOOR LAMP" on the stand and "OTT-LITE" on either side of the shade identify the recalled floor lamps. Check the label on the OTT-LITE ELECTRONIC BALLAST plug. The plug on the recalled lamps have white lettering on a black label and bear the model number DMBLH-18W or DMBLP-18W.
