The fuel hose on the carburetor can be dislodged, and leak fuel, presenting fire and burn hazards.
Remedy
Stop using the backpack blower immediately and return it to the STIHL dealer where purchased, for a free repair.
Reported Injuries
STIHL has received four reports of fuel hoses dislodging. No injuries have been reported.
Sold At
The backpack blowers were sold through STIHL dealers in California, between November 2000 and January 2001.
Full Recall Description
The recalled blowers have a model number of BR 420C and a serial number in the following ranges: 47988257 through 47989256 and 49014561 through 49015560. The name, "STIHL," and the model number, BR 420C, appear on the starter. The serial number is printed right above the starter.
