The candle flame can ignite the silver paint coating on the candle container, presenting a fire hazard.

Remedy

Consumers should stop using the recalled candles immediately and contact Schottenstein or Value City Stores to receive a refund and a $5 off coupon for use at Schottenstein or Value City Stores.

Schottenstein and Value City Stores nationwide sold the candles, from October 2000 through December 2000, for about $1.

Full Recall Description

The candles were sold in two different size terracotta ceramic containers. One container has a vase-shape, leaf design and a silver paint coating and measures about 3.5 inches high. The other container has a jar-shape rope design around the top of the container with a silver paint coating and measures about 2 inches high.
