The lights are improperly wired, posing a fire hazard.

Remedy

Reported Injuries

Progress Lighting has received two reports of these fluorescent lights smoking and smoldering. No injuries have been reported.

Sold At

Electricians and electrical supply companies sold these lights nationwide, from March 1998 through July 1999, for about $90.

Full Recall Description

The recalled fluorescent ceiling and bathroom lights were sold in various shapes and sizes including domes, cylinders and rectangles. The white Underwriters Laboratories label on the light contains the manufacturer's name, "PROGRESS LIGHTING;" the manufacture date, between March 1998 and March 1999; and catalog number. The label is located on the fixture's housing, under the white plastic lens covering the bulbs. Consumers should turn off the power before removing the lens to examine the lights.
