Hazard
The adhesive contains toluene, which can present a fire and poisoning hazard to consumers. The packaging of this product does not have the required cautionary labeling, as required under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.
Remedy
Consumers should stop using the adhesive immediately and call Kole Imports to receive a full refund. Consumers also can write to Kole Imports at 24600 S. Main Street, Carson, CA 90745 for the refund. Consumers who write to the company should not mail the product to the company or the retailer.
Reported Injuries
CPSC and Kole Imports have not received any reports of incidents. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries.
Sold At
Discount and "Dollar" stores nationwide sold the adhesive, from January 2000 to January 2001, for about $1.
Full Recall Description
The recalled adhesive comes in a soft metal squeeze tube about 1" x 5" with a screw top. The tube is marked, "Super Contact Adhesive," and comes in yellow, orange, blue, and white. The UPC code is 7-31015-04471- 9.
