Manitou Bicycle Suspension Forks
Hazard
The top of the Manitou bicycle suspension fork, when fully compressed, may contact the front tire, resulting in a loss of control of the bicycle and presenting a fall hazard to a bicyclist.
Remedy
Consumers should check the back of the lower leg portion of the fork for a decal stating, "Tire Clearance Upgrade Installed". If absent, consumers should stop using the bicycle immediately and contact Answer to arrange for a free travel upgrade kit to be installed at no cost. Consumers should discard the old Owners' Manual and contact Answer to send a free Owners' Manual.
Reported Injuries
One report of a Manitou Stance allowing the tire to rub against the top of the fork. No injuries have been reported.
Sold At
Retailers and distributors sold bicycles with the affected forks from July 2004 through September 2004 for over $1,000.

Full Recall Description
The recall involves 2005 Manitou Nixon, Stance, and Sherman bicycle suspension forks installed on various high-end mountain bicycles. The Manitou bicycle suspension forks have the model names printed on the sides of the lower leg portions of the fork.
